Friday morning, slept well and the day began good. Sun is shining and the weather prophets said something about 30° – it’s gonna be a hot day, all great so far.
My personal wish: Leave office at 3.30 pm and do a nice phototour to an old castle near by Dortmund.
It’s quarter past three and I’m smoking my “quitting time cigarette” on the second floor right under the roof, as with a not so quiet *plonk* it’s getting quiet. Something in myself feels alarmed.
30 seconds later a collegue of mine from the first floor ran down to the datacenter… I’m feeling more alarmed.
Another minute later more people ran down to the datacenter, whispering something about power failing… Now I am alarmed.
At the end of the day, at 8.30pm the facts:
- One out of three 250A fuses crashed
- Air Condition broke down
- 45°C in datacenter – time for a sauna injection, someone has some?
- Emergency Shutdown of all systems
- alternative Emergency cooling
I would say – don’t trust the start of a day if Murphy is with you…
